Donna Denise Green, age 67, of Charlotte, NC, peacefully transitioned from this life into the loving arms of her Savior on Sunday, September 8, 2024. Born on February 18, 1957, to John and Doris Cohens, Donna was the embodiment of grace, resilience, and selfless love.
Educated in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School System, Donna's early years of education were marked by a commitment to learning and hard work. She further honed her skills through the Job Corps Program, where she gained training that paved the way for long-term employment at Eckerd Drug Store Warehouse. Donna later pursued a new path as a chiropractic assistant, serving the community for over a decade under Dr. Fletcher Keith at Keith Chiropractic.
However, Donna's heart was always drawn toward the nurturing of children. This deep passion for early childhood development led her to work as an assistant teacher and nutrition supervisor at Angel’s Christian Day School and Academy. Her role there ignited her desire to expand her reach and, with great determination, she opened her own in-home childcare facility. Donna's dedication to the care of children reached even further when she became a foster parent to over 15 children, pouring her love and compassion into each one. In a divine turn, Donna and her beloved late husband, Samuel Green, were led by God to adopt four of their foster children: Darius, Elijah, Nehemiah, and Lauren. These children became the heartbeat of her life, and Donna remained a devoted mother, guiding, nurturing, and loving them unconditionally.
Donna was a cornerstone of her church family at Prayer & Deliverance Tabernacle, where her servant's heart and unwavering faith were evident in every role she held. She served faithfully on the Pastoral Care Committee, the Usher Board, and the Culinary Arts team. Her contributions to building fund initiatives and church beautification projects will forever be remembered as part of her lasting legacy within the congregation.
Donna leaves to cherish her memory her four children: Darius Green, Elijah Green, Nehemiah Green, and Lauren Green; her three sisters: Chrisann Coleman (Lindsay Coleman), Dr. Connie Green (Bishop Roger Green, Sr.), and Sonya Moore (Elder David Moore); her two brothers: Felix Cohens (Tracy Cohens) and Larry Howard; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and close friends. She is reunited in heaven with her parents, John and Doris Cohens; her sister, Eula Nelson; and her brother, Clinton Cohens.
Donna's life was a beautiful testimony of love, service, and faith, and though she will be greatly missed, her legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
**A Celebration of Life Service** will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at Calvary Christian Church of the Apostolic Faith. Let us gather to honor the life of this remarkable woman who dedicated herself to God's calling and to the betterment of those around her.
"Well done, thou good and faithful servant... Enter thou into the joy of thy Lord." (Matthew 25:21)
